THE NATURAL PARK OF MONTGÓ
Wild original holm oak tree forests that may have once dominated the landscape are nowadays substituted by a more humanised landscape of palm trees, pine trees forests and even thousand years old olive trees. Grapevines, together with the few left almond and orange trees provide an always changing landscape with the seasons of the year. Above all we see the mountain, "el Montgó". Majestic. From its summit we can distinguish Ibiza on a clear day.
THE SUNDAY RIURAU MARKET
Riuraus are rural typical architecture used for drying the raisins and it is nowadays used at Jesús Pobre for holding their succesful Sunday market. This market is being held since 2013 and has given the neighbours an oportunity to earn their living (boosting their personal initiatives). Furhter, it eased the continuation of some local traditions (palm baskets for example) and rescued some others for special events ("l'escaldat" or the boiling of the raisings, traditional songs and legents, etc.). Overall, the market has been a good breath of fresh new air to the area.
GASTRONOMY
The main gastronomic distinguishing feature of Jesus Pobre are its high quality products. A stroll in the surroundings let you discover the vegetable gardens that have reconquered the plots of land. Jesús Pobre is the village of a "risotto" kind of rice stew cooked with dried broad beans from the last season. This special "arròs amb fava pelà" can only be found in some part of Jesús Pobre and Pedreguer (though you can ckeck out the recipe at a video the the old ladies of the village have uploaded to youtube).
HOW TO GET THERE
Jesús Pobre is only 15 min away from Denia and Javea and the easiest way is to follow the signs coming from the main road heading to Javea.
